My home had its windows replaced in the 1980s. Is it time again?
Quite possibly. First-generation insulated glass sealed units from the 1980s are now 35 to 45 years old. The most visible sign of failure is fogging or haziness between the panes, which indicates the insulating gas has escaped. But even units that look clear may have lost significant thermal performance as the spacer seals have degraded.
